It Looks Like Nigo and Nike Are Working on a Sneaker Together
This year marks the 30th anniversary of BAPE, and what better way is there to celebrate than having its founder team up with one of the world's biggest sportswear companies? Over the past two decades, A Bathing Ape and adidas have been like two peas in a pod, working on countless models over countless collections. However, it looks like Nigo now has his sights set on Nike as we get rumours of a potential sneaker collaboration.
According to a report from Complex’s Brendan Dunne, industry insiders have revealed that the Japanese streetwear king has signed a deal with the Swoosh. One of Dunne’s sources noted that the duo is already working on its first sneaker, which is major news considering the fact that Nigo has been in Nike's bad books over the BAPESTA silhouette, which bears an uncanny resemblance to the Air Force 1 Low.
Not much else is known about the alleged Nigo x Nike sneaker collab, but it's expected to arrive sometime in 2024. Let us know what you think of this wild rumour, and in related news, the Union LA x Air Jordan 1 Footscape is the sneaker hybrid that we never knew we needed.
