Her Edit LDN: Our Personal Shopper Spills the Tea on What It's Like Working With Sneakers

Hey, I'm Georgie, and I'm one of the Personal Shoppers here at The Edit LDN! Believe it or not, shopping can be tough. Sometimes you just can't figure out what to wear, or even if you know exactly what you want, you might not be able to find it. That's where our complimentary personal shopping team come through. It's a totally free service, and it's tailored just for you.

As part of our Her Edit LDN initiative, I was asked to talk a bit about how I got into personal shopping in the first place, my thoughts on the sneaker industry, and so much more. So, if you're a queen thinking of getting into this scene, this one's for you!

For as long as I can remember, I’ve always had keen eye for fashion and buying clothes, so what better way is there to channel this energy than by becoming a personal shopper? (duh!)

After studying Fashion PR at uni, I started working at London Fashion Week. One of the first events that I took part in turned out to be with The Edit LDN, leading me to join the team soon after as a Personal Shopper! Being a Personal Shopper allows me to combine my huge love for style with my deep passion for helping people.

One thing that I've noticed though, is that it's an extremely male-dominated industry. In fact, I’d say roughly 80% of my clients are guys. Generally speaking, men tend to have wider sneaker collections compared to women, but that might be because we have bigger wardrobes. Some of my female clients, especially, tend to shop less impulsively, perhaps because we are more frugal and careful with our spending.

Recently, I’ve seen that gals have become more and more interested in trainers than ever before. This is probably because there are way more products available made for just women. For example, it’s great to see that the Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low "Olive" has been made exclusively for ladies, which would never have happened, say, five years ago.

Very cute!

Something else that I've noticed is that females seem to be more inclined to buy vintage sneakers compared to men! Shop pre-loved, people! It's good for your bank account and the environment.
